B-17G-80-VE 44-8471 "Winged Warrior"

WRIGHT R-1820

The engine is actually the first thing I started modeling on the B-17.

Even though the engine is barely seen within the cowling, I wanted to do a pretty good job so that whatever didn't get lost in the shadows would appear "real".

OK, I admit, I got a little carried away. Though at least in this version I've omitted the hundreds of little bolts holding the cylinders on.

Yes, I spent 2 hours re-creating a data plate in Photoshop. But it was a good 2 hours.

My high-res supercharger. As of late June, I still havent placed these on the model. I've been using a much lower poly version and they're doing fine so far.

A render of the more or less finished engine in my test environment. The wheel on the prop governor needs to be more shiney.
And look at that data plate!
